He is my very best friend, we studied together (during my college year)
exploring new places, had many different cuisine and many more!

This is my very first time using DSLR for Selfie and it's not as ease as i though!
Lulu and I met 5 years ago,
she is an adorable and friendly pug!

Aww~ sweet Lulu

As a pet photographer,
it would be great to take pictures for the pets from several angles,
and clients will be surprise to see their flurry buddy in different views.
This week my model is Champion a.k.a Champ, a Golden Retriever.
Angle from above which makes him look like he is taking a "Selfie"

Angle from below captures more details for picture.
Most people love eye to eye angles

Another from below angle, which is suitable for large dogs to make them look even larger!

I guess most pets love doors!
Doors bring them surprises and happiness.
They will wait behind the door just to welcome their owner to come home
or ready to get a leash and go out to have fun!
It's challenging for me to capture my front door with Piggy
because he is ready to run out from home.
So I choose the deck door (which he's not as interested)

It was very windy, so Piggy is starring at the dancing tree.

Lucky the Guinea Pig,
he's ready for the floor time!

For me, capturing the 'busy bee' kind of pets are fun and challenging.
All three of my lazy dogs would rather laid back and not willing to do anything
especially in winter time.
(unless there're snow and they would love to chase each other!)
So I pick one of photos which was taken during last summer
with Lulu running happily and crazily on the hill!

This week's theme is Yellow.

If any of you are into basketball,

You might notice that Wichita State University has rise to No.3 in the country!

I'm proud of WSU's basketball team as I am a graduate from there.

This is Piggy showing his Shocker Pride!

(Although this week's theme is yellow, WSU's colors are actually black & gold)

Shocker

Happy Valentine everybody!

This week's theme is TAILS

Personally, I like Pug's tail, curly and tiny.

But Lulu's tail wasn't curly and only curve to right all the time.

Piggy has only half of the Pug's blood line, so his tail is also a little bit curly but to the left!

Champ's tail is long and fluffy and always swept away the drinks on the coffee table whenever he walk by!

Happy Friday everybody!

This week's theme for Project 52 is "What do my pets do all day?"

Basically, they are having almost the same routine everyday.

Having lunch and dinner together, but sometimes one of them will be naughty..

Yeap! That is Lulu (Pug) trying to ATTACK poor Piggy (Puggle)

A Day

They love to take sun bath on balcony, and barking on neighbor's dogs or squirrels.

A day in the life-3 copy

Each of them have their own spot for nap time.

Sofa will always be Piggy's top option!

A day in the life-2 copy

During winter time, they love to cuddle!

In photography, we try to avoid unwanted or unnecessary shadows in the pictures.

In fact, adding shadows could be fun and creative too!

Here we have Piggy getting ready to get the treat from Shadow's hand!

What are some ways that dogs enJoy their fun?

Hmm..there's lots of ways!

Maybe having their favorite meals or treats,  the moment their daddy/mommy reach home,

or playing toys.

Champion gets very excited whenever I bring him to the field next to the fishing lake.

Once he is off leash, he will never get tired of running, running and running!

run for joy

Happy New Year to all my Project 52 team members!

A new year means a brand new week for the Project 52!

Week 1 : INTRODUCTIONS

My name is Lina ( pronounce as LEE-NA). Yep! A lot of people are confused as to how to pronounce my name :{

During my college year in 2006, I decided to raise a puppy after a long term decision.

I'm not familiar with local breeder, so I surfed online and finally met my little boy!

Piggy, a Puggle (cross breed between Pug & Beagle).

He's only 6 weeks old when I first met him.

Piggy

On 2009, I met Lulu when I volunteered at Kansas Humane Society.

A 3 years old Pug who is skinny but a tough girl!

Why I decided to adopted her? Well.. I don't know.. All I can tell you is it's love at first sight :D

Piggy and Lulu get along well. He is very caring and protective of Lulu.

Lulu

Champion aka Champ, 8 years old Golden Retriever.

We adopted him from a friend who is moving to other state.

He is very active and is always ready to make new friends!

Whenever me and my fiance walk these kiddos, people will say :"Woo-Hoo, you guys have all the sizes!  Do-Re-Mi "

Hi everybody, TGIF!

This week's topic is "Framed", using compositional elements to frame our subjects.

And I used the dining chair as the frame, which created an interesting layout.

Does it look like Lulu is behind the jail bar ? :D

Lulu looks so calm and sits still on the chair

(because she just had her dinner)

This is my second time to pick a theme for Project 52.

Besides bedroom, kitchen is always my dogs' favorite space.

They will always be on time when breakfast and dinner are ready.

Lulu (Pug) & Piggy (Puggle) are getting ready for their food while Grandma readies their foods.

Spoiled Piggy can't wait to have his dinner.

Time goes by fast!

When I first started Project 52 it was beginning of summer , and now it's fall !

Fall is coming late in Wichita.

We have a lot of green leaves instead of red and gold leaves.

TGIF everybody!

This week's project is  incorporating sun flare into shots and experimenting with subtle to overdone.

-0007-2

Champ is enjoying his morning sun bath on the field.

Sadly I didn't catch any strong sun flare with it.

-0141-2 -0145-2

This is Zero with the lovely sunset.

To enhance the sun and lens flare in the pictures,

I made it black & white along with orange shadow filter.

Thank you for stop by, here we have Silver & Pixel Photography

Thursday, September 12, 2013

TGIF everybody!

This week's theme for Project 52 is Recreate or Imitate your favorite art pieces of your favorite artist.

First artist that comes in my mind is Milton Glaser, an American Graphic Designer.

His simple and sharp logo design inspires me the most.

One of his best well-known logo is I (heart) NY

I love puggle

Instead of the heart shape,

I played with Piggy's image (with almost the shape of heart, REALLY ??) and fill with red

to make it look like I LOVE PUGGLE !

Hope you like it :D

Rules of thirds is one of the essential skills that is useful for composition techniques in photography.

A successful off-center composition can create the direction and eye-catching pictures.

Main subject of the picture above is Champ's eye.

The shadow can also create the nice composition for rule of thirds!

This week's theme is style. Fun, fashion, or photog-style - you decide for this week's challenge!  Here are some ideas.

A) What photography style are you.

A while back Jamie wrote this great article on defining your "photodogstyle" - http://www.beautifulbeasties.com/defining-your-photodogstyle/

I reference it every now and than have noticed big changes in the way I was photographing when I first started, to the way I photograph now.

B) Your dog's sense of style or fashion!

C) Any other style you can think of! Have fun!

I pick the A ! Most of my photos are consider as DOCUMENTARY style.

IMG_0258

I work with my own dogs for most of my photograph.

They has no awarenness to me, and just "do their own thing"

which also create the DOCUMENTARY style for my photos.

IMG_0134

Meanwhile, I also love the ABSTRACT style.

IMG_0012

There's have a lot of different styles of the photography,

hopefully I will create my very owned style pet photography in the future!

Happy Friday everyone!

This week theme is Low Angle, capture ideally from below eye level of dogs.

Piggy and Lulu is pretty short and it is not easy to capture from low angle.

To get a better low angle, I let them sit on the chair.

IMG_0024

Got quick snap while Piggy staring at the sky!

Another one with Lulu!

Thursday, June 27, 2013

This week's theme for Project 52 is Over Post Processing.

"Many of us strive to make our photos look natural, but for this week,

I'd like to you to do the opposite, and go crazy with the post processing.  A photo that is pretty obviously edited. Think creative, stylistic or artistic."

One of my favorite artists is Andy Warhol, as known as The Prince of Pop Art.

During my college year, one of the projects for my oil painting class is "Which Artist Inspired You?"

I picked Andy as my inspiration because I really love his colorful art style!

The painting below is the outcome of the project: Baby Piggy!

IMG_0037

For this project, I did the same as I did for the painting; except this time, with Lulu as the subject accompanied with Photoshop's assistance!

Lului

This is inspired by Andy Warhol's POP ART.

This week is my turn pick a theme for Project 52: Body Parts.

I love to take close up photos for various body parts for my beasties,

which can also create abstract view of the photos.

IMG_0015The space in-between Champ's hand created the love shape.
